VBS/Gedza Description and Removal Instructions
VBS/Gedza is a malicious worm that spreads via P2P file sharing network by dropping copies of itself. Once it is executed, VBS/Gedza will display the picture of the Canadian singer Avril Lavigne. In addition, VBS/Gedza may drop a file, display messages or open the Avril Lavigne Web site. VBS/Gedza runs on Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000 and XP and infects .XLS and .DOC files.
Automatically Detect VBS/Gedza

- Run a full system scan to detect VBS/Gedza files.

Remove VBS/Gedza Manually
To remove all VBS/Gedza files, you must kill all VBS/Gedza
processes that are running in your
computer's memory.
To kill VBS/Gedza
processes, press
CTRL+ALT+DELETE
to open the Windows Task Manager. Click on the
"Processes" tab,
search for VBS/Gedza, then
right-click it and select
"End
Process" key.
You'll also need to remove VBS/Gedza
registry keys. To remove VBS/Gedza registry keys, click on the
Windows
"Start" button
and select
"Run"
to open Windows Registry Editor. A window will popup. Type
"regedit" into the
box, and click
"OK".
Search for the registry key
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\VBS/Gedza."
Right-click it and select
"Delete."
Finally, you'll need to manually delete other
files to clean your PC of VBS/Gedza. These VBS/Gedza
can be in the form of EXE, DLL, LSP, TOOLBAR, BROWSER HIJACK, and/or BROWSER PLUGIN. For example, VBS/Gedza
might create a file like %PROGRAM_FILES%\VBS/Gedza\VBS/Gedza.exe.
Locate and remove these files.
